Bismillah Khan:
Ustad Bismillah Khan was a pioneer in Indian classical music. He popularized the music instrument Shennai in the world and helped in enhancing the importance of folk music. He was born in a traditional music family. On August 15, 1947, the day India got Independence, Bismillah Khan performed at the Red Fort. This had a symbolic meaning that there lies a feeling of harmony between Hindu and Muslim. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna in 2001.
