Answer:
We can beat it - Covid 19
Respected teachers and my dear friends,
I am Elaine Ann Issac of class 3-E.
We can beat it – Covid 19 -that is for sure. The next few minutes I am going to present my thoughts
on this topic. Over the past months we have seen that how a mutant virus has crushed world
economies and locked up all of us in homes. This pandemic is one of the deadliest crises the world
has faced over the years. This pandemic isn’t unprecedented, but it’s not anything, anyone alive has
experienced before.
So we are in this storm together. The flu in 1918 – tens of millions of people died – but we
overcome. Humankind has to survive, adapt and beat this pandemic together. This is a time when
we have to set aside all our barriers or boundaries of cast, creed, race, religion, country etc. and
unite together against our common enemy.
We are all in this together, even if physically apart. Some are in denial, some in despair. We have to
realize that Covid-19 is going to be with us for a long time and we must live with it. We can’t keep
shutting down our daily lives and paralyzing everything. We all have a choice to make. We can look
at the coming fire and let it burn. We can hunker down and hope to wait it out. Or we can work
together to get through it with as little damage as possible.
This is a time for countries not to brawl or quarrel about the origin of this virus. This is a time to
stand in solidarity with each other, by including all and leaving no-one behind, assuring the most
vulnerable are supported. By acting together, we can learn from each other and harmonize our
efforts.
When humanity hits a crisis, it always looks to science for help. And Science lets people understand
the world ‘together’. Science is a force for civilization. We have to trust Science and hold the line
together. Scientists and medical workers all over the world are dedicating their minds to the work of
understanding and fighting this virus. There are very promising signs of possible vaccines but their
work needs time, which means, we all have to work together, to focus on the things we can control
to slow the virus’s spread.
We have to follow the guidelines laid down by our governments, which can help us to keep the virus
at bay, while we wait for a vaccine. Case studies prove that, following social distancing guidelines,
social discipline, proper use of face masks, better hygiene and refraining from activities that pose an
infection risk – will help to reduce the spread of virus.
It is very easy to become disheartened, but there is light. We should keep hope and stay positive.
We have to be aware and prepared. Don’t spread a virus and don’t be scared. If we keep our eyes on
the prize, together we can turn this around.
Nothing lasts forever, this storm too shall pass. So let us sail together for the brighter horizons
ahead.
Thank you.
