✒️✒️ Diwali or Deepavali is one of the most important and colourful festivals of the India. It is called the festival of lights. Diwali celebrate the return of the lot of Lord Rama, Sita and Lakshman to Ayodhya after living for 14 years in exile. The people of Ayodhya came out rejoicing, in large numbers, to receive them.

India is a land of festivals. The land of unity in diversity , our country is a home to various religions . Each of them have their own special festivals . India is the only country where each new day is a festival for some community or the other.
Diwali is one of the most important festival for both Hindus as well as Sikhs. It falls during the month of October - November. The reason behind celebrating this festival is that , according to the tale of Ramayana , On this day Lord Rama returned to his Kingdom Ayodhya after defeating Ravana. Thus, to celebrate his victories return the people of his kingdom lighted lamps. "Deepawali" literally means "Line of Lamps"Also , this festival holds significance for Sikhs also as their Guru returned after being released from Amritsar.
Special preparation is made to celebrate this occasion . People clean their homes and get them whitewashed . Then , sweets are distributed and gifts are exchanged . Special sweets are prepared . Goddess Laxmi is worshipped as she is considered The Goddess of wealth .
At night , people burst firecrackers . Though it's fine to an extent but , it also causes a lot of pollution . the festival is a highly significant occasion but we also need to keep in mind it's auspicious nature . We need to take care of our environment . Green Diwali is the slogan of today that will help combat damage caused due to excessive fire crackers. So we should take care of such issues to maintain the serenity of this festival !
