Sure, we look up things, find our answers in a matter of seconds and we are satisfied with what we see. But what about our ability to think, are we putting our brains to use before turning to Google for answers?
Although it is meant to be used for finding additional information or to learn about things we previously had no idea about, we are using it on such regular basis that we forget to even reason with ourselves or put our brain to work when an issue arises.
It has started to show some toxic effects on teenagers to the extent where people are being diagnosed with the compulsive Googling disorder.
Although there is no harm in using the internet to learn about things, not attempting to analyze an issue on your own and simply depending on devices for assistance is not a good sign. We no longer reach out to friends, parents or people around us when confronted with a crisis or going through a rough patch in life; we instead turn to our phones and eventually end up searching for an answer on Google or post it on social media. This is murdering the mere meaning of human connection and emotions. Let us imagine being stuck in a situation with no internet connection to help us solve it, are we going to be able to get through it without panicking? Are we going to find the answers within ourselves? These kinds of questions are worth pondering over.
