Henry Louis Vivian Derozio, born on 18th of April 1809 in Kolkata was an Indian poet. He was a radical thinker and one of those educators to disseminate western thinking and science among the young minds of Bengal. At the age of 18, he got the post of lecturer in English literature and History at the Hindu College of Kolkata. He always insisted his students to think freely, to question on anything and do not accept anything blindly. His teachings inspired the spirit of liberty, equality and freedom. Derozio wrote many wonderful poems in English before his death.
