According to this theory, all human beings are born free and equal. Society came into existence because of the agreement entered into by the individuals. The classical representatives of this school of thought are Thomas Hobbes, John Locke and Jean Jacques Rousseau. being was an enemy to every other human being.

Social interactions have always been a part of human society because man is a social animal. There are many theories that tell us  about how the society came into existence. The theories that talk about how society came into existence are Divine right theory, force theory, patriarchal theory, matriarchal theory and social contract theory.

1. Divine right theory -society was formed by god.
2. Force theory - dominant people brought submissive/weak people under them thus, through compulsion bringing them under a society.
3. Patriarchal theory - To expand family where male are the dominant gender, protector of the society and the ones who carried the family linage forward.
4. Matriarchal theory - Its characteristic features included polyandry and transient marriages. Female gender being the dominant gender is a society.
5. Social contract theory - to fulfill their end goals humans formed society because no single person or small group could be self sufficient. They needed each other.
