LAKHIMPUR: Shooter Hriday Hazarika, the gold medal winner of ISSF World Shooting Championship, was warmly felicitated in his native district Lakhimpur on Friday.
On this occasion, a felicitation programme was organized at Bani Sangha at Narayanpur in a befitting manner under the aegis of Lakhimpur district unit of All Assam Students’ Union in collaboration with its Narayanpur Regional body and Narayanpur Sports Association. Hriday recently acclaimed international repute by performing brilliantly in the ISSF World Shooting Championship and won gold medal in the junior section of 10m air rifle event. By this achievement, he has become the first and foremost Assamese shooter clinching a gold medal from a World Championship.
A total of three hundred biker activists of AASU took Hriday from Hawajan, the border place of Lakhimpur and Biswanath district, organizing a procession while he was on his homeward journey from Guwahati after achieving the victory in South Korea. AASU feted him with gamosha, sarai, sarudaiya japi and citation along with mementos of the organization. In the same event, more than one hundred and fifty organizations and institutions greeted the promising star. AASU felicitated his father Principal Sarat Hazarika and mother Eva Hazarika too. President Pulak Jyoti Borah, secretary Dhanmoni Dutta, Narayanpur Sport Association president Mukul Hazarika, Sarat Hazarika spoke on the occasion. Hriday appealed all to bless him to propel his journey of life in order to shine the nation.
Meanwhile All Assam Students Union on Thursday felicitated Hriday in Guwahati. The function was attended by several top officials of AASU along with the parents of Hriday.
