Explanation:
Small steps to a healthy lifestyle “We are what we eat” once my parents told me when I was a child. I was so small, so this phrase did not take my attention. While I was growing up, I started to realize how important nutrition is. Moreover, I understood that the most important thing I can do is to make my nutrition as healthy as it is possible.
Nutrition is a vital process for the body. If a person wants to live, he must eat. People obtain energy, building material for the growth and repair of the body, bioactive nutrients, and an impact on their minds. Healthy eating habits are able to give people health, longevity, and beauty. A healthy diet requires a regular supply of nutrients: proteins, carbohydrates, fats, minerals, vitamins.
As a child, I was very thin and scrawny. I had stomach problems and almost never had an appetite. My parents worried for me, so at the age of eight, I worked with the doctors to improve my eating habits. Although it was a long process, at the age of eleven I had a good appetite and started to gain weight. It happened too fast, so in few years I became a bit overweight. As I am short, each extra kilogram can be clearly seen on my body. So, at the age of thirteen, my weight was 110 pounds and my height was 4 ft. 9 in. However, the most tragic part of it was that I did not realize that my lifestyle was absolutely unhealthy. I stopped practicing tennis and forget about taking exercises. I thought my lifestyle was absolutely well. My parents never judged me and my excess weight. They tried to support and maintain me as much as they could. They were afraid of my health, so once they started to explain me how healthy lifestyle is important. Altogether, my parents and I listed which food I ate, and the number of calories I consumed every day. The number was too high, and the food was mostly unhealthy and fatty. So, my family decided not to fry the food, but to stew, bake, steam, and boil food. Only now I understand how decisive this action was for me. I started to consume less high-in-fat products, and I felt myself much better. I came back into tennis and I had 3 training per week.
