Divinity and music seem to be inseparable. Divinity expresses and makes itself known through music only. Divine music is all the time there in the Cosmos. Its most perceptible sound is known to be AUM ; with small variations in spelling due to individual perceptions. It may be the store house of God-energy ; limitless and omnipotent and omnipresent. AUM is considered as God's first NAAM or manifestation because before that nothing is perceptible.
The soul being the extension of PARAM-ATMA is all the time yearning to hear the divine music. Divine words sung with music have the maximum impact on the soul which in turn impacts the being itself, moving it closer to divinity. It nourishes, stirs and uplifts. It can move the soul/mind in the desired direction to serve a specific purpose. It may be designed and used for arousing subtle divine feelings, bravery, enthusiasm,sympathy, love, happiness, entertainment or even for expressing the sadness in the mind. The effect of music is much more lasting than plain words and may keep humming in the head for the life time depending on the meaning, power, intensity and also the sensitivity of the listener.
