Pollution
The term pollution has been delivered from Latin word pollotioneum which means'to make dirty'. Any substance, present in the environment in proportions greater than it's natural abundance, and causing harmful effects, is called a pollutant; this phenomenon is known as pollution.
This implies that the presence of many of the substances, which when released into the atmosphere due to various human activities, cause pollution.
The five major types of pollution include: air pollution, water pollution, soil pollution, light pollution, and noise pollution.
Air pollution: Contamination of air by unwanted substances having harmful effects on both living organisms and non living things.
Water pollution: Water pollution is the contamination of water bodies, usually as a result of human activities.
Light pollution: Light pollution is excessive and inappropriate artificial light.
Soil pollution: Soil pollution is defined as the presence of toxic chemicals (pollutants or contaminants) in soil, in high enough concentrations to pose a risk to human health and/or the ecosystem.
Noise pollution: Noise pollution, also known as environmental noise or sound pollution, is the propagation of noise with harmful impact on the activity of human or animal life.
