There is no doubt that Delhi isn’t safe for girls. Almost every girl who has been in this city has faced tough situations and I had heard a lot from my friends and foes.

"I was once headed for Noida to attend a friend’s wedding. This was my first time in Delhi as a grown up. So I got down at the Airport and booked an Uber. The driver who came to pick me up gave me a wicked smile and scanned my body at a glance. I ignored and sat inside the cab. After he began the trip he adjusted his mirror so that he could see me. He then asked me in Hindi “Your first time in Delhi?” I bothered not to answer and looked outside the window.

About travelling for 2 km or so, he stopped the car and another guy in his mid 20s entered the car and sat next to the driver. I was shocked by then and before I asked anything, the driver said “Madam, hamara yaar hai bas inko paas mein utarna hai”. I opened my Uber app and was trying to lodge a complaint, I saw the guy staring at my belly. I was wearing a crop top since it was summer and realized this was a bad idea. But hey, who knew that you wouldn’t be spared on your cab ride as well. He kept on talking to the driver in the ever annoying Delhi accent and gazed at me from time to time. I really felt exposed and vulnerable at the moment and was scared to imagine the worst.

I realized I had to stop the car and get down at any cost. I had called my friend who lived in Delhi and told him I needed his help. After a heated argument with the driver I finally convinced him to stop the car midway.

I finally got down and he used some swear words from his companion they decided to let go.

Adding to my shock I found that the rear doors had child lock applied on them. For all, please check for child locks before you board a cab anywhere in India. Later, my friend came along with his friends and picked me up and drove all the way to Noida. I thanked god for keeping me safe that day.

I lodged a complaint against the driver with Uber and they had dismissed him." This was an incident happened to a sister. A female only knows a female's pain.

News:

NEW DELHI: With Assembly polls due early next year in the city, the Aam Aadmi Party government is considering to make metro and bus travels free for women in Delhi "to encourage them to use public transport".

This is a very good decision. Delhi want to be a role model of India.

Males should mind their behaviour. No crimes will take place.
