Satyajit Ray
Satyajit Ray was a legendary Indian film director. He was also an excellent author, music composer, and illustrator. He was born in 1921, in Kolkata. His own Father (Sukumar Ray) and grandfather (Upendrakishore Ray Chowdhury) were also famous for their contributions to children's literature. Satyajit Ray completed his studies from Presidency and Santiniketan. In his student life, he proved his brilliance in every step. Later in his working life, Satyajit Ray got international fame from different films which he had directed, especially the film called "Pather Panchali". Along with the film director, his Bengali literary works were equally successful. Satyajit Ray had created many popular fictional characters like Feluda (detective genre) and Professor Shanku (sci-fi genre), in his Bengali literary works. He was magazine editor of a famous Bengali magazine for children, called "Sandesh". Due to his excellent contribution to different creative fields, he received many awards, like Oscar, Bharat Ratna, etc. This legendary person passed away on 23rd April 1992. But he is always immortal through his contributions.
