BABUR (AD 1536-1530)
Zahir-ud-din Muhammad Babur was the founder of Mughal Empire in India. He was born in 1483, at Farghana, a small kingdom in Centrak Asia. Babur was the fifth descendant of Timur from his father's side and the fourteenth descendant of Changez Khan from his mother's side. His family belonged to the Chagtai section of the Turkish race. He wrote his famous autobiography "Tuzuk-i-Baburi". He also invented a style of writing verse called Mybaiyan.

The decisive victory in the First Battle of Panipat helped Babur in laying the foundation for the Mughal Empire. Following the battle he occupied Delhi and Agra, and set about consolidating his empire. The Rajput ruler Rana Sanga considered Babur to be a foreigner and challenged his rule in India.
