It is a myth that the sex of her child is because of the mother. There are 23 pairs of chromosomes in ever normal human cell. In each pair, one chromosome comes from the father and one from the mother. One pair of these 23 chromosomes is sex chromosomes (XY in males and XX in females). Each gamete has only one chromosome. An egg has X chromosome and a sperm may have X or Y chromosome. So on the basis of the above statement we can say that father's sex chromosomes are responsible for the sex of the child.
