Media has had quite a deep impact on teenagers. This impact has both good and bad side. Social media and networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter have become source of major distractions for students. Young boys and girls seem to have become inordinately addicted to these sites. They are thoughtlessly and uselessly wasting their precious time on these sites. Wise people say time well utilized is time well spent, but the youth of today is only and only wasting time on chatting, messaging, uploading photographs and modifying profiles. The smart phones and 4G connections have made the situation worse. Accessing such sites has become so easy that young boys and girls are using these sites almost everywhere and almost all the time. Similarly they wait for their favourite TV programs with such intense longing!

Students these days appear to be more worried about connecting to their friends on Facebook than being concerned about doing their studies, assignments and projects! The other major disadvantage of the increasing use of such networking sites is the spread of obscenity. This is having a very negative impact on the impressionable minds of our young children and leading them astray.

On the other hand, social networking and the facilities of media exchange formats facilitated by advancement in internet has made the life and work of so easy for everyone. Everything is available on social networking sites and platforms. There is not a single sphere or walk of life where social networking and media are not being used! Education, industry, finance, defense, teaching, learning, research, medicine, accounting, entertainment, internet, online teaching, telecommunication, media, and space research and exploration. It is internet and computer everywhere.

In conclusion, it can be said that media is neither good nor bad, we have to teach our teenagers how to use it judiciously for the betterment of the self.

The more social media we have the more we think we are connecting but the reality it that we are actually getting disconnected with the virtues of this world.
Even though social networking sites keep people connected and have many other great uses, there are also some disadvantages and ways these sites can be misused. However, social networking sites have become an established part of everyday life for many people, and they aren't going away anytime soon. Therefore, it's very important to acknowledge the problems that have accompanied this huge increase in popularity.
One basic problem that can come with the use of social networking sites is the loss of individual privacy apart from this a very serious problem which is related to loss of privacy is sexual predation on social networking sites. Because they don't always think before they post, students sometimes upload scandalous pictures of themselves onto their profiles. These could then be viewed by sexual predators. Students sometimes have other personal information, such as their phone number, on their sites as well. Social networking sites can be completely anonymous, and it's possible to create a fake profile as well.
Social networking sites are often breeding grounds for such abuse. This is because it's so quick and easy to post a mean comment, send an intimidating message, start a nasty rumor, or upload embarrassing photos. Students don't think twice about their actions because the time between planning a prank and actually going through with it is greatly decreased on a social networking site. It's possible to be completely anonymous as well, so there is less chance of getting caught.
Another problem with social networking sites is that they can be very addicting and take up a lot of students' time. That time could be used for more productive activities.
Also, it seems to be contradictory that people would lose social skills because of social networking sites. However, some people perceive this as another disadvantage. Many of today's students feel more comfortable chatting with a person online than talking in a verbal conversation. Also, almost anything you can do in real life can be done online in virtual realities like Second Life. There have even been many virtual marriages within this community. Sometimes people start to prefer their fake online lives to their actual lives, and this is when social networking sites start to negatively affect social skills. Some argue that there is even a mental disease that should officially be labeled "Internet Addiction Disorder."
