Tree is a woody perennial plant, typically having a single stem or trunk growing to a considerable height and bearing lateral branches and leaves at some distance from the ground. Trees are the longest living species on the earth, they gives us a link between the past, present and future. Trees are like the lungs of the planet. Trees are as much important to our life as food and water. Trees are source of rain as they attract clouds which ultimately bring rain. Trees are the most precious gift to the humanity on the earth from nature for which we must be grateful, give honour and preserve for the mankind wellness and make a “Green Earth”.

Trees are Valuable as Gold that’s why they are called as “Green Gold” on the Earth. Life is possible on the earth because of water, oxygen and trees and we cannot ignore that trees are source of oxygen and water on the earth. Human beings are the most intelligent species on the earth, so we should understand our responsibility towards the nature and start saving trees, the “Green Gold” of earth.

Benefits of trees:

Trees gives us Oxygen, absorb CO2, removing and storing the carbon while releasing the oxygen back into the air.

Trees stabilise the soil prevent flooding and soil erosion, absorbing thousands of litres of storm water, provide us materials for tools and shelter and give life to the world’s wildlife.

Trees have many health benefits like the canopies of trees act as a physical filter, trapping dust and absorbing pollutants from the air. The carbon stored in the wood helps slow the rate of Global Warming. Trees keep us healthy by lowering the dust levels and pollution levels especially in the urban areas. Trees prevent us from the respiratory disorders and breathing problems by refreshing air. Trees help in reducing noise pollution and most effective as sound barriers because they act most effectively like stone walls in stopping sound. Trees prevent us from the noises of crowded roads, railway stations, airports etc.

Many trees have medicinal benefit like The oil from Birch Bark has antiseptic properties. Research shows within minutes of being surrounded by trees and green space, our blood pressure drops, heart rate slows and stress levels comes down. An acre of mature trees may provide required oxygen to 18 people per year.

Trees reduce wind speed and the cool air as they lose moisture and reflect heat upwards from their leaves. It’s estimated that trees can reduce the temperature in a city by up-to 7°C.

Trees grow economy, it attracted people to live, work and invest in green surroundings. Research shows that average house prices are 5-18% higher when properties are close to mature trees. Companies benefit from a healthier, happier workforce if there are parks and trees nearby. Many people are dependent on the tree for their survival economically for example paper industries, rubber industries, match industries etc. are totally dependent on trees.

Trees save water by slowing down the water evaporation from ground through their shadow. Trees are natural water filter and play great role in preventing water pollution by allowing water to flow down to the earth below tree thus prevent rainwater to carry pollutants to the ocean. Trees have very less water requirement per year (400 trees need approximately 40,000 gallons of rainwater).
