sivasagar is the ancient capital of Assam during the Ahom rule . They reigned in Assam for six hundred years. sivasagar is known for its past glory. there are many monuments worth seeing. like Siva daul, vishnu daul , and Devi daul. these were built by king sivasingha. Rudra singha dug jaysagar tank in the name of her mother jaymati. jaymati was devoted wife of Gadhadhar Singha . she sacrificed her life to save her husaband from the wrath of king Loraraja. jaidaul was there on the bank of the jaysagar.
