He is portrayed as a larger than life character who is brave and courageous. Like most of the early Greek heroes he was destined to be a great ruler and he is shown as an ideal man in every aspect.
He defeated Cyclops and also killed all the men trying to do wrong to his wife. He is portrayed as an ideal husband. He is also shown to be very intellectual because when he along with his men had entered the Cyclops cave all his men were frightened from the very site of this cave but he remained calm and encouraged his men and used his intelligence to enter the cave from the safest place.
