In my opinion, our own sun is by far the biggest star. It contains 99.86 percent of all matter in our solar system. Its warming sunlight takes 8 minutes to reach us and travels 93 million miles through space that is very cold.

Mercury days are 59 Earth days; the Mercury year is 88 Earth days. Because of the pull of the sun and its small size, Mercury has no atmosphere at all. It is no place to live.

The atmosphere of Venus is so dense that the pressure of being there would be like being at the bottom of our ocean. And carbon dioxide traps the sun’s heat on Venus, giving the planet run-away global warming. Its year is 225 Earth days, but curiously the Venus day is longer than its year: 243 Earth days.

The solar system is a gravitationally bounded system consisting of the eight planets and a big star called the Sun.

The eight planets are:

  • Mercury
  • Venus
  • Earth
  • Mars
  • Jupiter
  • Saturn
  • Uranus
  • Neptune

The big star is called the Sun. It is made completely of hydrogen and helium.
