A Report
Our school organized an Inter-school Cricket Tournament last Sunday. There were many schools participated besides our school. Total there were 4 teams. There was the huge crowd of students who had gathered in the playground to cheer their respective teams.
First of there were semi-finals. Our school had conveniently reached the final. So it had to be played between our team and DAV Public School. Therefore for the final match, the umpires reached the field. It was the 15-15 over match.

First of all there was the toss and fortunately our team won the toss and elected to bat. The opening pair consisted our captain John and other player Kohli. Both of them were very careful in playing the first few deliveries. Then our captain hit a four to open the account. After that both of them looked comfortable on the crease.
An Inter-school Cricket Tournament Report
They kept playing till the 6th over when Kohli was out caught behind. This time the score of our team was 45. Then another batsman came on the crease. It took him a couple of balls to fix his eyes on the ball. Again the innings was as smooth as earlier. After this no player of our team was out and our team finished at 117 at the end of 15th over.
Then the players of DAV Public School came for the batting. The beginning of theirs was also good. They struck hard at the ball in all directions. Soon they were 42 without losing any wicket. Then our trump card, Sonu, leg spinner came. His ball was taking a sharp turn.
The opponents found it difficult to understand him. And in his very first over, he took a hat trick. Then the match came in to our grip. The opponents could not recover after that. They were all out at the score of 85. In that way, we won the match and the final of the tournament.
Our Principal, who was also the Chief Guest, presented trophy to our team besides other awards such as man of the match, man of series etc. We all enjoyed this cricket match very much.

Answer:
Our school played a brilliant football match on Tuesday 1st October in the first match of the season.
Our coach and manager have a great array of players to choose from, as talent is ripe in the squad this season. This match was a six a-side game because one of Linacre’s players could not make it, so the poor goalkeepers only had 2 defenders. For all but three of St Philips’ players, this was their debut. Matthew and Charlie (Y5) both scored one goal each and were captains for the game. Nathan (y5) was the only player to score more than one goal – he scored two, one just at the start of his second spell in the game. Lewis (yr6) also got a fabulous goal. Linacre put up a good fight in the second half, but their display was not good enough to beat the defence of St Philips.
At the end of the match Linacre gave the winning team a huge cheer and St Philips roared back at them! The team already hopes that they will win the league. They left school with their heads held high!
Player of the week goes to Matthew in Y5 – Well Done!
Our next match is scheduled to be on Tuesday 8th October.
