Guwahati, 05th February, 2016: A devastating fire raged in the Athagaon area of Guwahati. Two godowns and several shops were gutted. The area housing several godowns of rubber and plastic materials caught fire through a short circuit.
The goods being inflammable caught fire immediately spreading fast to the other godowns and shops. The place soon turned to an inferno. Twenty fire fighters along with the local people worked incessantly for twenty hours and brought the fire under control.
Goods worth several lakhs were burnt to ashes. It was a disastrous and devastating incident.
