Unforgettable School Picnic
Our school organized a picnic for class 10th last
Saturday. The yellow school buses, fully packed with students and teachers
headed for Bliss Resort in the foothills of the Himalayas. The students were
extremely excited to reach the destination. All the students kept singing songs
in the bus till they reached the venue.
Students were welcomed by the people by applying ’tilak’ on
their foreheads. After entering the gate, we all were served soft drinks
followed with breakfast of idli chutney, poha, and paranthas. The next event
was a magic show which all students looked forward to. The magician
performed some amazing tricks which both students and teachers enjoyed a lot. The
next event was the Dj Dance. All students danced on the floor with great energy
on the thumping dance numbers. Even the teachers could not resist the luring
temptation of the dance floo . After the dance we all took the students for a
horse cart ride and bullock cart ride followed by a toy train ride which the
students enjoyed a lot. After a tiring
and fun packed morning we all headed for lunch. The dining hall, filled with
the fragrance of food triggered our hunger and we all relished multi-cuisine
food. Later the students were allowed to play in the park.
The most attractive activity of the picnic was the boat ride
in the nearby ‘Swati Lake’. It is such a beautiful lake that I had never seen
the like of it before. All around it were green mountains. The water of the
lake was crystal clear. Where it was not deep, one could see the bottom and
many species of colourful fish swimming in it.
The school buses started homeward journey at about 5 p.m. At about 8 p.m. the buses entered the school campus. The parents had already been waiting for their children. Everyone had a big smile on their faces indicating they had had a great fun.

A place where history rules. A city which has history in all its vigour and colour. A place where history breathes its magic all over.
Lucknow, the city of Nawabs and palaces where history resides in every road, lane and locality. We had an opportunity to visit this city in the course of an educational trip. We started at 7:30 am on 26th November, 2016 and reached by 10:00 am. There was a moment of hush as the students crossed the palatial doors of the Imambara.
The guides enriched the team with facts, escorted it to the dark, looming doors of the ‘Bhool Bhulaiya’. The students tried to act brave and defiant but the fact remained that the labyrinth gave us the creeps. There was much enthusiasm as they made their way through the confusing passages. Sounds of laughter and cat calls filled the air. It was as if the passages were alive again. The terrace provided an over view of the Imambara. There are four floors upwards and the same number of floors underground. It was amazing to know how people of the past used to communicate news of war from one passage to another. After sometime we were back in sunshine and boarded the bus for the Banyan tree.
The Banyan tree is one of the largest Banyan tree in all of India. The nature camp coordinator enriched our minds on how the penance of a sage was the fruit of this wonderful tree. There is a Brahma mandir also built by the villagers. He then arranged for two different competitions. The first one was to find the circumference and the other was to dress up Banyan tree.
We being the city dwellers know little of village and nature. This trip was full of soothing pleasure.
The visit to Imambara and Banyan tree displayed an astonishingly large display of graffiti. This is a disgrace to the Indian heritage. Wild and insensible graffiti adorned the walls and branches of the Banyan tree. I would like the students to ponder over this issue.
Lastly, I thank Principal Sir and Teachers, without them this trip would not have been possible. I thank my friend for their constant companionship and wish to be a part of more such educational trips.
