Dinajpur Road Accident
Seven people were killed and fifteen
others seriously injured in a bus accident in Dakshin Dinajpur on May 3, 2018 at 12:45 p.m. The state owned bus collided with a truck parked mistakenly
on the side of the road. The speeding bus was trying to overtake another bus
from the wrong side and owing to poor visibility the driver failed to see the
park truck. 5 people died on the spot whereas two others succumbed to injuries
in the hospital.
The deceased have been identified as
Mukesh Banerji, Satya Roy, Mhd. Abbas, and Abhishek Chaterji, and Sudharshan
from Dakshin Dinajpur; Pankaj and Subroto from Dhanbad. The injured have been
hospitalized in the nearby hospitals. The police have registered a case
negligent driving against the absconding truck driver. The state transport
minister has announced compensation of rupees 200000/- to the families of deceased
ones and rupees 50000/- to the families of injured ones.
