Wednesday 28th February was a hopeful day for me. Witnessing a life being saved certainly brings hope. Of the numerous accidents that takes place on the roads of Delhi each day, very few people get immediate medical attention and till the time it reaches them, they are dead.
Today it was unlike all days, a bike had been run over by a truck, and the truck driver fled away. The biker sprang in the air and hit the road with a bang. Blood gushed out of his helmet and the face could not be seen with blood all around. Within minutes of the incident, for the first time, I could hear accident sirens, and the man was taken to the hospital. All I could do is, lead the ambulance through the busy streets, so that the way was cleared of traffic.
The man is still in the ICU, but is showing signs of recovery. I will be returning back to the City Hospital, to meet the fortunate man.
