• Two person, males in their thirties, were killed in head-on collision of a car and a truck. The accident took place in the national highway about two kilometres away from city. Three occupants of the vehicles received major injuries and were shifted to a local hospital by an ambulance. According to the hospital sources their conditions are critical. The deceased persons were identified as Rahul Sharma (34) and Himan Kumar (37) both are employees of government departments and posted at Shillong. The police have established the cause of the accident as mechanical failure of the truck.

• Meanwhile, the Chief Minister of the state of Meghalaya has assured a relief of Rs. 5,00,000 each to the families of the deceased persons and Rs. 2,00,000 to each of the injured persons.
