Cyclone Titli: No loss of life reported in Odisha

The cyclone triggered heavy rain in Gajapati, Ganjam and Rayagada districts leading to flood like situation in Bansadhara river system. However, six members of a family are reportedly missing after their house swept away in flood waters of Adangi river at Bhutapankhal village in Bhanjanagar block in Ganjam district.

Ganjam district administration has started a search operation for the six missing persons. “A team has started searching the missing persons. Due to strong wind, heavy rain and hilly terrain there is some difficulty in tracing the missing persons,” said Vijay Amruta Kulange, collector of Ganjam.

“During the land fall the wind speed at Gopalpur was around 120 kmph and 80-100 kmph in Gajapati district. The system will now move in north-westerly direction. Under its influence entire state is likely to experience heavy rain except the western districts in next 24 hours,” Padhi added.
