Report on Environmental Rally 2015
This year, we at Carmel Convent High School have chosen the project “Grow Green and Keep Clean”.The students are made aware through morning assemblies and are encouraged to keep the classrooms and campus clean. In order to extend this awareness in surrounding areas, we decided to arrange an environmental rally in our neighbouring thirty three villages. In this direction we motivated our teachers, students , ex- Students and P.T.A members.
We divided our students of Std VIII and Std IX , our teachers, P.T.A members and ex-students in four Groups under various heading such as Mahatma Gandhi, Lokmanya Tilak, Subash Chandra Bose and Dr. Abdul Kalam. On 15th August, after the flag hoisting ceremony, we had a short programme. We had invited Mr. Andrew Lopes and Mr. Elias Rodrigues, the tree lovers and Mr. Marshal Lopes, ‘Nagar Sevak’ to inaugurate the Environmental Rally.
Around 8.45 am all the four groups marched forwarded to different directions along with the school band. Each group visited 8 villages. The people of the villages were already informed to keep the village clean and ready. In every village two Neem Tree Saplings were planted by the village elders. The street play based on environment was acted out, banners and posters were displayed and hand outs were distributed. The handouts had slogans in Marathi and English.

The students, teachers and parents enjoyed this two hours trip around the village. They were greeted by the villagers and given snacks. Around 6000 people were made aware to take care and preserve our environment through this rally. In every village the students were given responsibility to look after the saplings, which will be surveyed next year.
