On 18 December, 2014, all the students of Learner’s Ascent International School celebrated their annual day function with enthusiasm and zeal. The entire school participated wholeheartedly towards the success of this grand event. The triumph was made possible by the relentless efforts of our principal Ms Diana Samuel.
The chief guest Ms Rudy Warwick, an eminent sociologist, a social activist working for Children’s Rights Foundation and winner of Humanitarian award, a social worker of the year award and Global Peace award was the esteemed guest of honour.
She emphaised on three aspects, firstly importance of education among underprivileged strata of society, followed by upliftment of the economic status of the population and lastly offer a level playing field to all.
Ms Rudy Warwick was visibly impressed by the impeccable performance showcased by the students across different grades. The event started off with a prayer dance by girl students of grade 6. The theme for the annual day was ‘Compassion for each other” which was presented meticulously by students from grade 3 to grade 10.It was a journey into thriving compassion among characters and heart touching scenes interwoven into a dramatically overwhelming play composed by the students. The play also had musical elements to bring symphony and melody into life.
The panel of dignitaries consisted of the chief guest Ms Rudy Warwick, school trustee Mr Simson Brown, the principal of school Mr James Watson and famous playwright Mr Dan Osborne. Prize distribution ceremony was conducted to felicitate and recognise the talent of students in various fields like academics, art, culture, sports etc
After the prize distribution the audience had a break of 10 minutes to have refreshments.
Post break, Skating champs of the school displayed a precarious feat as they manouvered their skates on the stage like skilled skaters.
Mr Dan Osborne in his speech to the audience appreciated the choice of theme, compassion and its immense impact on the minds of youth. He said future is yours so shape it to achieve the best for your society and yourself. He was astonished to observe young children narrating scripts with perfect articulation. Language skills are essential for the success of students in many fields was the advice he furnished to all the students.
Finally, Principal Mr James Watson acknowledged the efforts of the students and thanked the esteemed guest for their precious time from the busy schedule to attend the annual function.
The event closed with a grand finale celebration by all the participants on the famous song Heal the World. It was indeed a spectacular display of talent and fervour.
