Explanation:
The ancient fort is apparently first built by Chandragupta in 300 BC and then have changed hands between the dynasties and nawabs who came later. It is a huge fort built in lap of mountain with natural boundaries as well as fort walls. While it has a lot of architectural marvels in rock cut caves, stepwells etc. the place is not very well kept.
It is swarming with tourists, mostly local, which makes the approach road too crowded to drive by. But given the spread of the fort, driving through the fort is recommended.
It is a must visit for history buffs. Go for the palace turned in to a mosque, Buddhist caves and stepwells.
