Torrential Rain Causes Flood in North Bengal

Kolkata, 26 August 2020: North Bengal experienced a severe and devastating flood caused by torrential rain for a week. The rain started on the 16th of August and flooded Jalpaiguri within a few days. Gouya and Mahananda rivers are on spate and it has also took part in causing flood as there is a breach in the embankment. Fields are flooded as a result all crops has been washed away. Mud houses have collapsed leaving a lot of people homeless. Government and army workers have been deployed and they have brought the people to relief camps. Water bottles and dry food have been distributed.
