It is informed to all the students and staff that students of class 10th ,organized a LITERACY DRIVE PROGRAMME , About 50 students of Std X from SChool name......., , along with 5 of their teachers, went to the nearby locality, and contacted about 25 adult illiterate men and 6 women from the slums, and planned a programme to educate them.
According to their syllabus, they planned to teach them the alphabet in English and Marathi, reading and writing, numbers 1 to 100, addition and subtraction, and environmental studies related to health and hygiene, The method adopted to teach the above mentioned syllabus was through skits, T.V. Shows, Personal teaching and storytelling.

Unfortunately India's literacy rate is just 69.1%, that too the urban population plays a major role while the rural remain shroud in the darkness of ignorance.
The Government of India has taken active measures to uplift the literacy rate. They have organized a number of literacy drives in villages to make the public aware of the benefits of education.
They have urged the urban schools to initiate the literacy drives. Recently give schools of our town had visited five villages in the state. With catchy slogans and posters they arranged road side demonstrations and performed street dramas as a part of the literacy drive.
It is hoped that villagers will understand the value of education and send their children to school
