Answer:
Amazon Forest Fire
Amazon rain-forests in Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Peru are considered to be the lungs of the world that convert maximum carbon dioxide into oxygen. These lungs have been severely damaged by recent forest fires in July and August 2019. It has been estimated that 906 thousand hectares of Amazon rain forests have been destroyed in the fires in 2019 so far. The entire world is worried over this humongous loss of life-giving forests.
The major cause behind these forest fires is the lax attitude of the Governments of Brazil, Bolivia, Paraguay, and Peru towards the rain forests. It has been alleged Brazilian president Jair Bolsonaro has intentionally allowed these forest fires to promote business and agricultural activities for which the land is needed.
The European countries have offered financial help of US$22 million for emergency aid to the affected Amazonian countries to control the fires. Sao Palo was darkened with the smoke from the forest fires. Brazilian President has put 40000 troops on duty to control these forest fires now after people took to streets to protest against it. It is hoped these forest fires will be contained before they wreak unprecedented havoc on the climate.
