Recently we celebrated Holi with gaiety and fervour in our residential complex. The Secretary of our Housing Society had requested us to play with colours only in the compound and not spoil the lifts or the common areas inside the buildings. Adhering to this request, the children and their parents met on the lawn and put or sprayed colours on one another.

After spending a good few hours outdoors, the families went into the community hall. There we participated in a musical function, which was pretty informal; we danced to the tune of holi numbers as the dholak and the cymbals created a heady mix.

Gradually, as people seemed to tire of the frolicking, we were served sweets, juices and light refreshments in keeping with the mood of holi. After all the families present had finished eating and drinking, the President of the Society thanked us and we left in small groups.
