Explanation:

Last week Union elections were held in our college and in the elections i  announced my nomination in the presidential election of our department association.  

I held several meetings with union members and convinced them to vote for me by telling them my agenda for this position and i also went to students for their support. However the final result was not in favour despite a close competition but overall many students participated in the election
