Tree Plantation Drive Organized at Greenwoods Global School
Keeping the spirit of Vanmahotsav alive with the ongoing tree plantation drive all across the country, a tree plantation programme was organized at Greenwoods Global School, Ludhiana on July 7, 2018. The students along with a team of 20 teachers planted 5000 trees in and surrounding areas of the school. A variety of different types of saplings and plants were planted. Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Mayor appealed to the students and teachers to ensure the sapling's healthy nurturing. He appealed to them to adopt the saplings planted for the 100% survival and healthy growth of each sapling into full-fledged trees for creating purer environment in the society. The Mayor appreciated the school management, the Principal, and the students for taking the initiative to make the surroundings green. The media were present to cover the event.
Started by the Agriculture Union Minister, Kulapati Kanaiyalal Munshi, the “VAN MAHOTSAVA” is a festival that is celebrated annually with the aim of creating and promoting awareness about the forests among the common public.
The festival goes on for a week and propagates the ideas of conserving forests.
The term “VAN MAHOTSAVA” comprises of two words “VAN” and “MAHOTSAVA” which literally translate into forest and Festival respectively.
