Harshavardhana was an able ruler and administrator. His administration was modeled with charity, generosity, and public service. He followed the example of Samudragupta and became a practical man. His royal decree ran from Kashmir to Assam and from Gujarat to Orissa making him the supreme sovereign of Northern India.
