Hi there, here is the answer.
Peasants of the third estate in the French society were not given right to vote due to the Constitution 1791, which gave political rights only to the richer sections of the society. So it led to the formation of Jacobin Club, which was led by Maximillian Robespierre. The members of the Jacobin Club belonged mainly to the less prosperous sections of the society including artisans, workers and shopkeepers. The Jacobin came to be known as Sans-culottes which means those without knee breeches. A larger member of Jacobins decided to wear long striped trousers to look apart. They also wore red caps to symbolize freedom. On the morning August 10, 1792, Jacobins stormed inside the Palace of Tuileries and massacred the king's guards and held the king as hostage for several hours. Later the assembly voted in imprisonment of the royal family. Then the assembly declared that elections would be held to form a new form of government. All men above 21 years of age were given the right to vote. Elections were held and the newly elected assembly was known as Convention. On 27 September 1792, it abolished the monarchy and declared France as Republic. There was no hereditary monarchy.
