George's Secret Key to the Universe is likely to be exactly what you'd expect from a children's book authored by the world's foremost theoretical physicist and his daughter. It's packed with facts about the universe, speculations about black holes, and tributes to the wonders of science in general, but it's all presented in a gentle way that young brains can understand.

George is a little boy whose parents are total technophobes, refusing to even use light bulbs. George, on the other hand, does not share this sentiment and desires a computer above all else. When his pet pig Freddy wanders away, George chases him down the street (where he has been banned to go), where he meets Eric, a physicist, and his daughter Annie, a free spirit. Cosmos, the world's most powerful computer, is housed in Eric's study and has a glum demeanour. With Cosmos' hesitant assistance, Eric and Annie educate George to the wonders of science and teach him about the universe. Of course, they teach the reader as well in the process.Regrettably, George inadvertently reveals the existence of Cosmos to his wicked schoolteacher, Dr. Reeper, setting in motion much of the rest of the book's plot. A subplot regarding school bullies is also present.

It's a fantastic book for people of all ages, and I adore it.
