Government of India has set a target for mission 2022-23 for farmers by doubling farmers’ income (DFI). This is really a good step toward the growth of farmers of our country. Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojna (PMFBY) and Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojna (PMKSY) are the best tool to encourage farmers to do more cultivation. Distribution of soil health card to farmers helped them to utilize the furtilizers efficiently. Easy loan facilities for farmers through Kishan credit Card (KCC) is a one of the revolutionary tool to improve the financial structure of farmers.
Increase in the minimum support price (MSP) for all kharif & Rabi crops this season at a level more than const of production of giving majour boost for farmers’ income. Direct purchase of agricultural comodities from the farmers and providing online trading platform to farmers by E-NAM app are great initiatives of Government of India toward growth of farmers.
The Committee constituted for DFI has identified seven sources of income growth:
1. Improvement in crop productivity
2. Diversification towards high value crops
3. Increase in the cropping intensity
4. Improvement in livestock productivity
5. Shift from farm to non-farm occupations
6. Resource use efficiency or savings in the cost of production
7. Improvement in real prices received by farmers
With this we can say that farmers income will definitely be doubled by 2022-23.
