It is a metropolitan city. The day starts for teacher Mrs Meera Sagar (33) at 4 a.m, when she gets up from bed in a hurry. A four-burner gas stove and a microwave oven in the kitchen couldn’t cope with her speed. Within an hour, the menu for the entire family, including the diet plan for her traditional and strict in-laws at home, all ready.

Then, Reema, her six-year-old daughter, is still in bed trying to avoid the sunlight peeping through the windows. Within minutes, a complete transformation takes place when she turns out to be a neatly uniformed girl waving bye to her mother for the rest of the day.

Then comes the next portfolio for Meera with a full list of commitments for the day. She is supposed to catch a public transport bus, travel for an hour and a half, then pick an auto rickshaw and travel for another 15 minutes to reach the gate of her school.

The same routine went on every morning. Meera being career oriented, loves to be an educationist. Cities are loud, crowded and full of life and hopes. There would be times when Meera would face problems like eve-teasing, abuse and at times, even molestation. She is an educated woman, from a traditional family. Her family would just ask to stop her career goals if she tries to inform them. Even her six-year-old daughter’s bright future would be disturbed if Meera backs up in her life. Each day she lives in a fear that someday she is going to turn out to be a liability for herself and her daughter. Every day she holds an extra tension with her pain and only prays and hopes that she’s going to be home safe to see her school-going daughter to be safe too.

The basic root crime against women is sick mentality wherein a woman is made a victim. Be it during the day or night, in home or out, walking or in public transit, women are unsafe. Public security and safety plays the most important role in the lives of people.

Some cities in India have been implementing powerful algorithms to contribute to the safety of women. And still, there are cities with poor algorithms and improper checks on women safety. Let us hope for a better India, with an increase in economic prosperity and quality of living.

Answer:

"Women safety is a matter of concern in the nation. Irrespective of the state or place they belong, their safety has become a concerning issue. Recent incidents have left many of us flabbergasted.

Whether it’s a 5-year-old girl or a woman in elderly age, the atrocities of women are no different. Rupturing their emotions, tearing them apart and making them feel vulnerable is what our society has given to them.

But, still, there is a ray of hope in this. Women are now trying to combat the adversities and trying to come up and raise their financial independence to get their rights.

There is a dire need for some transformation in the law which ensures their safety and empowers them to be self-sustaining.
