ERYTHROCYTES

  • Erythrocytes are also known as red blood cells.

  • They are the most abundant blood cells in the blood.
  • It is red in colour due to the presence of haemoglobin.

  • It is formed in the bone marrow.

  • It is devoid of nucleus in mammals including humans.

  • It transports respiratory gases.

  • They have a lifespan of about 120 days.

LEUCOCYTES​

  • Leucocytes are also known as white blood cells .

  • They are colourless due to absence of haemoglobin.

  • They are nucleated cells.

  • There are two main types of WBCs they are :- granulocytes and agranulocytes.

  • WBCs also provide immunity to the body.
