Vitamins do not give us energy and do not help in building the body. But they are essential for the proper functioning and protection of the body.

Vitamins are classified as water soluble (can be dissolved in water) or fat soluble (can dissolved in fat).

* Water - soluble vitamins :- Vitamin C and group of vitamin B are water soluble. Water soluble vitamins have to be included in our diet regularly as they are not stored in our bodies.

* Fat - soluble vitamins :- Vitamins A, D, E and K are fat soluble vitamins. They are stored in the body along with fats and used when needed.

Vitamins are required in very small quantities. Fruits, vegetables, milk, eggs and cheese provide us with vitamins
