The Jats of India are mostly divided into two large communities o about equal size: One sikh concentrated in punjab and other was Hindu. Their sense of pride,group solidarity and self sufficiency have been historically significant.

A Jat kingdom nearby Bharatpur became a principle rival for declining Mughal power and defender of Hindu ways against the Mughal.
