The United Nations Organisation is an organisation which helps maintain peace in the world. It was established on 24th October 1945. It's headquarters is at Manhattan, New York. It consists of 193 states. It's symbol is the world map surrounded by olive branches.

Its member countries have pledged to maintain worldwide peace and to co-operate in solving International problems.

There are six official languages of the UN - Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian and Spanish.
