A carnivore is an organism that mostly eats meat, or the flesh of animals. Sometimes carnivores are called predators. Organisms that carnivores hunt are called prey. Carnivores are a major part of the food web, a description of which organisms eat which other organisms in the wild.

Carnivores are those animals that obtain their food from killing and eating other animals. They eat herbivores, omnivores, and carnivores. There are of various types depending upon the type of animals they feed on.

• Predators kill their own prey.
• Scavengers eat animals they did not kill themselves.
• Insectivores are animals that eat insects.
• Piscivores are animals that eat fish.

Examples include eagles, falcons, lion, tiger, crocodiles, spider, etc.
