Language shapes the world view of the individual. According to the theory of linguistic relativity, language does not only reflect our way of thinking, but is also able to shape it. The Sapir-Whorf-Hypothesis became popular during the 1950s. It states that the world is viewed differently by people of different cultures and languages. The people's way of thinking is influenced by the grammar and vocabulary of their language. There are certain ideas and thoughts that can be thought in a particular language, and do not exist in other languages. Many experiments have been conducted which prove that this is true.
