1). Much of Earth's grid system is based on the location of the north pole, South pole and equator. The poles are an imaginary line running from the axis of Earth's rotation. The line connecting any points along a great circle is also the shortest distance between two points.

2). Heat zones are the different zones of the earth, where is the sun's rays fall directly, thus causing different climates patterns. These zones are called the torrid zone, temperate zone and frigid zone. The temperate zones maintain a moderate climate, and the frigid zone are extremely cold.
