Helmuth was an 11 years old boy. At the time when his parents were discussing something serious, he was in bed. His father by occupation was a doctor, who was discussing with his wife that they were in the middle of two serious issues where they had either to commit suicide or the Jews would kill them for revenge. The very next day, his father spent some time with him and thereon in the office he shot himself. His uniform of Nazi which he had was silently burnt in the fireplace of the family. This incident traumatized Helmuth. As a result, he denied eating at home for he was scared that his mother would poison him. This is how his father died who was a supporter of Nazism in Germany.
