A. O. Hume (6 June 1829 – 31 July 1912) was a member of the the Indian Civil Service, a political reformer, and botanist who worked in British India. He was an administrator of  Etawah and saw the rebellion of 1857. He was of the opinion that the revolt was a result of misgovernance and mismanagement.May
