The energy released during a nuclear reactions is called as Nuclear energy . Energy is mainly released in The form of heat and some light energy.
The nuclear energy is also known as atomic energy because it can be considered to be coming from the atoms.
Nuclear energy can be obtained by two types of nuclear reactions:
1. Nuclear Fission ( process in which two heavy nucleus of radio active atom such as uranium splits into smallerv nuclei when bombarded with low energy neutrons).
2. Nuclear fusion (process in which two nuclei of light elements like hydrogen combine to form a heavy nucleus like Helium )
Nuclear fusion reaction reactions takes place in Sun .
Only nuclear fission reaction is used to generate electricity.
Advantages of Nuclear energy:
1.It does not produce gases like CO2 which contribute to green house effect or SO2 which causes acid rain.
2. Once the nuclear fuel is loaded into reactor, it can produce electricity for two to three years. No need of adding fuel again.
Disadvantages:
1. Emits harmful nuclear radiation.
2.high cost of installation of nuclear power plant and limited availability of uranium fuel.

Atomic Power : uranium and thorium  are radio active minerals. In India, uranium is mainly found in jharkhand and rajasthan.Along with this, thorium is also available in monozite soil of kerala. An atomic energy plant is situated near kota in rajasthan. Minerals and mining activities not only create employment opportunities, but they also provide raw material for industries and thus support the industrial scenario. We must understand that most of the energy resources are non - renewable. In the conditions if 5hey get exhausted, their redevelopment is impossible. Therefore, we should use them moderately and also work in the direction of the development.
